Chanelle Bulluss is known by How- ick locals as the young lass who used to sing at the top of Rices Mall facing Picton Street, busking and singing to bring a little ray of sunshine to shop- pers’ days. Chanelle, now 19, has always had the skill and drive to fulfil her dream of becoming a star of the big stage, and along the way she collected the winner’s prize of the 2011 Xtreme Talent Quest, run by Uxbridge, How- ick’s creative centre. She’s now taking her performance journey a step further, by being accepted to the prestigious perform- ing arts courses offered by Federa- tion University at Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. While in Howick during the recent varsity holidays, and after busking at Rices Mall, she told the Times thou- sands applied and auditioned for the university’s programmes, and she’s the only Kiwi to be accepted this year, studying music theatre. The tough Howickian has even had to overcome a recent bout of pancreatitis, but that’s not stopping her on the quest to work in the world of musical theatre. Chanelle’s in fine voice Chanelle Bulluss and Wally Rice, of Rices Mall.
