YOUTH Affairs Minister Nikki Kaye is calling for nominations for four new awards to reward young New Zealanders. “I have created these awards for Youth Week to recognise and celebrate young people aged 12-24 who have contributed to their community in a significant way,” says Ms Kaye. “I know there are thousands of young people making valuable contributions in their communities, both individually and as members of groups. “I’d like to encourage people to take the time to nominate those young people to be formally acknowledged for what they are doing.” Young Kiwis can be nominated for one of four awards: leadership, change maker, giving back, and working for young people. Award winners will be announced during Youth Week from May 17-25. Nominations close at 9am on April 28.
