Photo supplied APOPULAR annual Easter egg hunt will be held once again this Saturday. The Cession Community Trust is organising the eighth Easter Egg Hunt, and since its inception at The Depot in 2007, the event has become a regular part of a festival running through the Easter season. This year’s programme includes Easter party food and a special appearance by Hip Hop the rap- ping rabbit, as well as the main event, the egg hunt. Children will have to make a matched set from close to 2000 colour-coded eggs and will hunt for the much sought-after Golden Eggs, 12 eggs with age range labels to ensure everyone gets a fair go. Trust manager Juanita Masuna says: “Low-cost, high fun activities are really valued by families in our area. “The chance for families to play as a family, take a time-out together, is what this event aims to deliver.” Trust chairman and local pastor Brett Jones says the community is getting better at celebrating. “Midnight Madness is fast becoming a must-do for fami- lies, the Santa Parade is a Howick institution, the Military Tattoo is a summer highlight, and the Easter Egg Hunt is another great Lloyd Elsmore Park event.” The Egg Hunt kicks off Cession’s Between the Lines interactive art exhibition which opens on Good Friday, including a contemplative Good Friday service set amidst the art. The public will be able to inter- act with the art exhibition through the Friday evening and Satur- day, including a children’s station designed to be more accessible for kids as well as adults. The Great Easter Mystery runs at 10.30am on Easter Sunday fol- lowed by a Meet the Artist event in the evening. Mr Jones says the trust is grate- ful for Lotteries Board funding to help bring the event to Howick families this year. The Easter Egg Hunt is from ■■ 9.45am on Saturday, April 12, at The Depot, Lloyd Elsmore Park. A $2 koha per child is suggested.
